Cervoz’s Embedded Components Are Designed to Make Farming Smarter

As the latest frontier in agriculture’s quest for productivity, smart farming requires the use of machines, sensors and management systems, all communicating via a network connection, to increase harvest and reduce cost and labor.

March 22, 2021 - Cervoz, a supplier of industrial-grade embedded products, is making its way into the smart farming sector with a set of solutions curated specifically for the unique challenges of the field.

As the latest frontier in agriculture's quest for productivity, smart farming requires the use of machines, sensors and management systems, all communicating via a network connection, to increase harvest and reduce cost and labor. At each endpoint, the machines and devices involved need to have high-performing data processing capabilities in order to precisely respond to variability in the crops and yield more and better harvest.

Cervoz offers TLC technology SSD products that guarantee high performance. The high IOPS allows devices in the smart farming ecosystem to gather and transmit data. Coupled with the DDR4 DRAM modules, these solutions are robust and reliable. Cervoz can incorporate a range of value-added services and features with these smart farming solutions. For instance, to protect the products from any environmental factors associated with farming, such as irrigating or fertilizing, Cervoz offers conformal coating.

More broadly, like any technology ecosystem, a stable network connection is fundamental in facilitating machine communication and proper operation. Anticipating this problem, Cervoz has designed number of expansion card solutions to guarantee a stable connection. The MEC-WIFI is suitable for short-distance transmission, while we would recommend the MEC-LAN and MEC-COM for longer distances.

Cervoz's products are all tried and tested to perform normally in different environments, including difficult and rugged ones as with smart farming, so it is with confidence that the company now looks to partner with those in the smart farming sector.

Photophyll™ Select from CREE LED

Photophyll™ Select from CREE LED

Photophyll Select is a new phosphor-converted LED color with blue and green spectral output tuned for horticulture applications. These LEDs are designed to replace the white LEDs that are common in two-channel white + red horticulture luminaires. By maximizing green content and minimizing red content versus standard lighting LEDs, this LED color enables significant enhancements to luminaire cost and performance. Photophyll Select LEDs are the industry's first LEDs to be entirely binned in horticulture metrics, enabling more straightforward spectrum design without confusing translations or conversions. The spectral output of these LEDs is binned into two metrics, both of which are based on the amount of PPF in standard Blue (400-499 nm), Green (500-599 nm) and Red (600-700 nm) bands. The two spectral metrics are percentage of Red PPF content and the ratio of Green to Blue PPF content.
