Case Study from | CIMON

CIMON supports the automation needs of various industries. In addition to applications such as automotive, aviation, energy, oil, water, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), CIMON finds themselves assisting the Digital Agriculture Revolution. Daeheung Farm, the world’s largest Enoki mushroom producer with 20 years of expertise, has incorporated CIMON’s programmable logic controller (PLC), Xpanel human-machine interface (HMI), and UltimateAccess supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) within their facilities.

The specific equipment utilized in this application includes the CP series CPU from CIMON’s diverse PLC lineup, and the 10”, 12”, and 15” Xpanel HMIs. Daeheung Farm, with over 90,000 m2 of land, has managed a 0% defect rate in 2019 with the addition of CIMON into their manufacturing methodology.

Alongside sensors and other machines responsible for the production of Daeheung Farm’s Enoki mushrooms, CIMON products help facilitate the growth, collection, and packaging in an optimal and efficient manner. This innovative step with automation is the first of its kind within the mushroom industry. Increased efficacy is seen with 24-hour remote monitoring (including mobile) and automated processes.

Most industries are adapting to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT), because they realize manual labor can be reduced drastically while also optimizing the work environment for the best quality products. Daeheung Farm is setting the new standard for how smart farming should be approached.

Back in 2016, before fully committing to automation, Daeheung Farm yielded about 300–350 g/bottle with manual labor, while with CIMON in 2019 they have ramped up to over 370 g/bottle. On average, they are outperforming their industry peers by over 20% in regards to harvesting ratios. They have gained more than 40% of the market share and have had 30% annual growth since 2016.

Their mission is to continue research and development, so that they will improve on the smart farming paradigm. Automation processes have brought Daeheung Farm to the forefront of their industry, with CIMON being a strong foundation for them to stand on.

How to overcome GNSS limitations with RTK correction services

How to overcome GNSS limitations with RTK correction services

Although GNSS offers ubiquitous coverage worldwide, its accuracy can be hindered in some situations - signals can be attenuated by heavy vegetation, for example, or obstructed by tall buildings in dense urban canyons. This results in signals being received indirectly or via the multipath effect, leading to inaccuracy, or even blocked entirely. Unimpeded GNSS positioning in all real world scenarios is therefore unrealistic - creating a need for supporting technologies, such as real time kinematic (RTK) positioning and dead reckoning, to enable centimeter-accuracy for newer mass-market IoT devices.
