Arugga Shipping First Plant Lowering Robots in Europe

Arugga AI Farming is launching the first plant lowering robot for tomato and cucumber plants in greenhouses.
Nicknamed ‘Louie’ by its R&D team, the autonomous plant lowering robot optimizes one of greenhouse farming most labor-intensive tasks. Addressed to lower cucumbers and tomato  plants, the robot achieves 300 plants per hour and two units cover one hectare, ensuring uniform growth with precise, gentle lowering adjustments. The robot can handle plants up to a weight of 10 kg with a gentle mechanism enabling adjustable rotation.
Known for commercializing pollination robots, the Israel-based company has signed agreements to deliver its first fleet of commercial plant lowering robots to selected growers in The Netherlands, Belgium and France.
The lowering robot has been selected as a finalist to the Greentech 2025 Innovation Concept Award. Growers attending Greentech on 10-12 June will be able to attend a demonstration by Louie on  June 12 and 13. Registration to the live demonstration is available on Arugga's website.
Iddo Geltner, Arugga AI Farming CEO: “It is a big achievement after a couple of years of hard work by our R&D team. We are pleased to start working with leading European growers including Lans and Harvest House”.

Erwin van der Lans, Operational Director, Lans: “We have witnessed high levels of reliability and improved speed since the robot was trialed at our Dinteloord site last year. We are now ready to deploy the first four units”.
Silvia Janssen-Voorbij, Head of R&D, Harvest House: “we look forward to bringing this great
innovation to our growers in The Netherlands. This promising solution helps address challenging labor shortages. Automation in greenhouses is critical to remain competitive”.
