Artemis Partners With Nonprofit Kitechild to Empower At-Risk Children in Kenya

Provides Cultivation Management Platform for Kitechild’s greenhouses that produce nutritious food and resources for Kenyan Children’s Centers

Artemis, the leading enterprise Cultivation Management Platform (CMP), today announced a partnership with Kitechild, a non-profit organization working to develop and fund community-based sustainable and income-generating initiatives for children's centers across Kenya.

Through the partnership, Artemis has provided its CMP to large scale farms at three partnering Kenyan children's centers: the Fiwagoh Center, the Mother Esther Girls Rescue Center and School, and the Pendekezo Letu Girls Rescue Center, with planned future integrations at other Kitechild partner greenhouses and farms. Using Artemis, these greenhouses are able to more efficiently track data, manage tasks and labor, and leverage insights to increase crop output, which is a critical source of food and additional income for the Kenyan children's centers.

Kitechild's greenhouses provide nutritious organic food for kids at partnering children's centers while surplus produce is sold in the surrounding community, generating income to cover overhead costs. In the past five years, Kitechild has fed over 1,200 children. In the last 9 months alone, the site at Fiwagoh has produced nearly 150,000 pounds of produce, feeding 250 children and its 20 staff.

"Kitechild's sustainable agriculture initiatives have created measurable positive change for children and local communities in Kenya, and we saw a natural avenue for partnership," said Artemis CEO and Founder, Allison Kopf. "Arming growers at these greenhouses with the data and insights needed to optimize their farming operations leads to fewer wasted resources, more food produced, and more finances to further Kitechild's mission."

"The produce from our Greenhouse Program is ensuring that at-risk children get the nutritious food needed to grow into happy and healthy members of the larger global community," said Kitechild Co-founder and Director of Operations Jacqueline Herrera.

"Artemis shares in our vision for sustainable initiatives and collaboration as a force for good in the world, and the company's generous partnership and platform integration will play a critical role in our ability to generate more food for kids and income to reinvest in our children's center partners," said Kitechild Co-founder Pollyanna Uruena. "The non-profit sector across the board really needs to see more partnerships like this. Management systems like Artemis allow us to set the foundation for optimal efficiency."

In addition to Kitechild's Greenhouse Program, it hosts several other sustainable projects as well as a Reintegration Training Program to reunite children with their families. To donate to one of Kitechild's sustainable projects or operational budget click here.
