U.S. Cellular Teams Up with IoT America to Provide Advanced IoT Solutions Targeted for Agricultural Customers

“IoT doesnt have to be difficult, and with our track record of high-quality network service, we can ensure that farms of all sizes and functions have access to the technology they need to be successful.”

U.S. Cellular announced today it has teamed up with Internet of Things America LLC (IoT America) to provide an enhanced suite of IoT solutions for business customers and rural communities. These U.S. Cellular customers - which range from growers and ranchers to small towns, light industrial companies and more -- now have access to IoT America technology solutions designed to increase efficiency, yield, productivity and safety, while reducing operating costs.

"We strive to work with companies who share our commitment to providing an excellent customer experience, and IoT America offers unique IoT applications and solutions that can enhance any agricultural operation while providing ongoing support every step of the way," said Scott Scheuber, director of emerging product and services management at U.S. Cellular. "IoT doesnt have to be difficult, and with our track record of high-quality network service, we can ensure that farms of all sizes and functions have access to the technology they need to be successful."

U.S. Cellular and IoT America will be providing smart farming solutions for farmers and ranchers to deliver higher yields and efficiencies to enhance day-to-day operations. Initially, IoT America will begin with asset tracking and tank monitoring solutions for U.S. Cellular customers. Asset Tracking includes outdoor applications as well as Lone Worker identification capabilities. The Tank Monitoring solutions highlight diesel tank, propane tank and water tank monitoring. Additionally, Tank Monitoring allows for reduced truck rolls from delivery companies, increased time utilization for both family farm operations and large co-ops, and better facility performance and uptime for livestock and machinery.

IoT America manages every aspect of implementation and delivery of IoT technologies, including installation, sensor management, ongoing monitoring as well as data analytics. Whether a farm needs tracking devices on herds or tanks, facility monitoring or anything in between, U.S. Cellular agricultural customers now have a cost-effective way to reduce the complexity of evolving their farm into a tech-forward business.

"The success of our customers living and working in rural communities drives everything we do at IoT America, including our strategic engagement with U.S. Cellular," said Michelle Reese, senior vice president of strategic alliances at IoT America. "By combining our vast IoT capabilities and industry expertise with U.S. Cellulars market leadership in creating solutions that delight customers on their network, we are in a perfect position to help growers and ranchers make smarter decisions and improve the way they work."

Particularly small and cost-effective: Market launch of the uEye XLS cameras

Image processing opens up a wide range of possibilities for the automation of modern agriculture - but what to do when only a small budget is available? That is where the uEye XLS comes in. With the launch of these super-small industrial cameras, even price-sensitive applications and volume projects become feasible. Measuring just 29 x 29 x 7 mm, the compact cameras offer excellent imaging characteristics without excessive heat generation, making them a perfect fit for embedded vision applications in agricultural machinery and equipment. The industrial cameras comply with the vision standard and are available with Micro-B connectors and with or without C/CS or S-mount lens holders, further increasing their adaptability to different agricultural environments. Thanks to these features, the cameras offered by IDS Imaging Development Systems lower the barriers to entry and make it easier to explore the potential of vision technology to optimize agricultural processes.
