Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum 2018 is back this week for its second edition. The trade show kicks off at 9:00am today with co-located events Livestock Taiwan and Aquaculture Taiwan Expo & Forum. Featuring innovative, eco-friendly and sustainable products and technologies with more than 210 exhibitors and 400 booths, the show is aimed to cater the demand of rapid expansion in the agriculture, aquaculture and livestock industries.

The six pavilions: seed and seedling, Taiwan agricultural technology, biogas power, water testers, animal medicine and vaccine and poultry/swine house facility, are the highlights in 2018 edition. "The exhibition is expected to help increase the agrarian intensity of production and provide professional solutions towards food safety, food crisis, and animal diseases," stated Ms. Sabine Liu, General Manager of UBM Taiwan.

Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum targets the specialty of niche market. The expansive development of IoT and biological technology broke down traditional industry's barrier and recreated a new economy internationally. Intelligent, automatic, circular and eco-green products are the future trends of the food system. UBM Taiwan estimates the trade show would generate approximately USD 27 million transactions.

More than 30 cutting-edge technologies for technical and mass production, including facility agriculture, agricultural machinery, microbial fertilizer or biofertilizer, seed and seedling, feed additives, and pesticide detectors, are presenting in Taiwan Agricultural Technology Pavilion. The local authority in Taipei, "COA", highly recommended the harvest performance of cruciferous vegetables, watermelons and cherry tomatoes. They feature good quality and greater survival of grafted plants, and are heat-, disease-, moisture-, and drought- resistant and tolerant.

The debut of Biogas Power Pavilion will be led by Dr. Chih-Chieh Li of Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Taiwan's leading technology R&D institution. He will also host the topical conference 'Circular Economy: Biogas Power and Production' on July 27th. This will be followed by Taiwan biogas technology manufacturers and suppliers to provide the best solution for turning livestock manure waste into reused energy. In addition, the showcase of egg and poultry automatic equipment has also been elected as buyers' favourite.

The utility of IoT technology has been well-performed in the remote monitoring, environmental control, and smart farming facilities for aquaculture operations. To better assist the industry, many exhibitors collected farming big data via diverse devices which are demonstrated onsite at the exhibition. The improvement of farming environment and effective management are crucial to increase yield of aquatic organism. This has therefore increased demands for buyers to invest in data collectors and cloud services, highlighted by exhibitor Blutech Inc.

The Asia Agri-Tech Expo & Forum 2018 opens from July 26-28. The satellite event includes business promotion, matchmaking programme and over 50 conference sessions. The three-day grand show is the only one of its kind in Taiwan and supported by 40 international associations and media bodies. The exhibition attracted more than 20,000 visits from at least 30 countries in the opening day.

X-Rail: reliability and resistance to environmental impurities

Rollon's X-Rail linear rails are a reliable solution in environments susceptible to impurities. Equipped with rolling elements with shaped and flat raceways, they are available in several versions: galvanized, nitrided or stainless-steel sheet metal. The latter version ensures total corrosion resistance, which is critical for hostile environments such as those found in vertical farming. Particularly innovative is the T + U configuration of the X-Rail linear rails, which can compensate for the parallelism errors of mounting surfaces. This simplifies installation and reduces costs.
