Compass Technology Group Launches Next-Generation Peanut Moisture Measurement System

The Peanut Moisture Measurement System (PMMS) was developed for the peanut industry with direct input from farmers and buying points. It provides fast and accurate in-shell moisture readings, eliminating the need for shelling, so testing can be done in the field or drying shed with results that match the buying point. Using 5 GHz microwave technology, it measures moisture 6% to 20% within ±0.5% points at peanut temperatures ranging from 32°F to 122°F and delivers results in just 30 seconds. The system is built with the right sample volume for downstream testing, an intuitive three-button touchscreen with USB connectivity, and rugged construction that requires minimal maintenance since the plastic slide gate for samples is the only moving part.

Compass Technology Group is proud to announce the release of its Peanut Moisture Measurement System (MMS), a groundbreaking innovation designed to deliver faster, more accurate, and more reliable in-shell moisture testing for the peanut industry.

Developed with direct feedback from farmers, the Peanut MMS leverages advanced 5 GHz microwave technology to deliver unparalleled accuracy measuring kernel moisture from 6% to 20% within ±0.5% points at peanut temperatures ranging from 32°F to 122°F. Results are available in as little as 30 seconds, saving time, labor, and resources while ensuring farmers and processors receive the same reliable results as buying points.

"The Peanut MMS is more than just an upgrade, it's a leap forward for the industry," said Becky Schultz, CEO of Compass Technology Group. "By listening to the needs of farmers and buyers, we've created a system that is rugged, easy to use, and delivers unmatched precision. We're proud to provide technology that truly empowers the agriculture community."

Engineered for real-world conditions, the system features a simple three-button touchscreen interface and USB ports for seamless updates and peripheral connectivity. Its rugged design and minimal moving parts, with only a plastic slide gate for sample release, ensure durability, reliability, and low maintenance in both field and drying shed environments.

"The engineering challenge was to create a system that balances advanced technology with everyday usability," said Ren Geryak, Lead Engineer at Compass Technology Group. "The result is a device that's intuitive, dependable, and provides the critical data farmers need to make faster, smarter decisions about their crops."

Additional highlights include optimized sample volumes to support downstream testing and the ability to operate in demanding environments with up to 90% non-condensing humidity and temperatures from 25°F to 120°F.

The Peanut MMS is set to transform how peanuts are processed, helping reduce inefficiencies and increasing profitability across the supply chain.
