France and Belgium Join Odisha’s Growing Export Network — Nearly 100 MT Shipped to Over 7 Countries in 12 months
This achievement adds to an already growing list of international markets, including Dubai, London, Birmingham, Rome, Venice, and Dublin.
Bhubaneswar | 6th June 2025: In a major breakthrough, Odisha has successfully added France and Belgium to its mango export destinations, reinforcing the state's emergence as a prominent agri-export hub. This achievement adds to an already growing list of international markets, including Dubai, London, Birmingham, Rome, Venice, and Dublin.
During the first week of June 2025, 13.4 metric tonnes (MT) of mangoes were exported to London and Dubai, significantly contributed by Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs). The exports were made possible through active involvement from the Saptasajya Farmer Producer Company Ltd., Dharitree Agro Plus Company Ltd., Kankadahad Farmer Producer Company Ltd.and Sugandha Farmer Producer Company Ltd.
Export Performance So Far
Since exports began in May 2024, Odisha's agri-export volume is nearing 100 MT, with mangoes — especially Amrapalli and Dashehari varieties — making up a significant percentage of the total.
Enabling Market Access: Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment (DA&FE) and Palladium's Role
These successful exports have been achieved under the guidance of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment (DA&FE), Government of Odisha, with Palladium India serving as the Technical Support Unit (TSU) for the marketing component of the Promotion and Stabilization of Farmer Producer Organizations (PSFPO) Project. This initiative is supported by the Gates Foundation and is implemented in collaboration with NABARD, with the Agriculture & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) acting as the export partner.
As the state's Technical Support Unit, Palladium has played a key role in identifying high-potential export markets, facilitating compliance and logistics, and strengthening the export readiness of FPOs across Odisha.
Higher Incomes, New Markets
Expanding into new markets has delivered direct benefits to Odisha's farming communities. Farmers have earned 40-60% higher prices for their mangoes, enabled by direct export access, improved quality standards, and aggregation through FPOs.
Momentum Builds: Odisha as an Agri-Export Powerhouse
In 2024-25, Odisha entered seven international markets. In the first few months of 2025-26, the state has already exceeded that number — both in terms of destinations and export volumes. This growing momentum reflects the Odisha government's focused efforts to establish the state as a leading agri-export center.
Present at the time of export, Ms. Gitashree Padhi, Deputy Director of Horticulture (DDH), Dhenkanal, stated, "The global acceptance of Odisha mangoes in markets like France and Belgium reflects the potential of our farmers and the strength of our horticultural ecosystem. This milestone is a proud moment for Dhenkanal and for the state as a whole."
Farmer Voices: Dream Turned Reality
Subhashini Charter, a farmer and member from Kankadahad FPCL, shared, "We never imagined our mangoes would reach France. This opportunity has brought better income and immense pride to our village. We are grateful to the Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Empowerment and Palladium for guiding us through this journey."
