Last January, Auckland-based greenhouse automation and technology company, Autogrow split into two separate entities, leading to the creation of WayBeyond. The purpose of this new digital farming company is to focus on providing smart farming solutions on a global scale.

WayBeyond
With Autogrow focusing their attention on the automation and control solutions for small to medium sized growing operations, WayBeyond aims to deliver their powerful crop management tools to large-scale producers around the world.

Under the WayBeyond umbrella is crop management platform, FarmRoad which launched in 2020 with an artificial intelligence yield prediction product, and the Folium Wireless Smart Sensor Network.

Autogrow had found themselves with two very different service offerings, each with differing client bases. The founding of WayBeyond has allowed the company to make good on their early commitment to transform the AgTech industry.

"We made a commitment that everything we develop will be open and interoperable", says WayBeyond CEO and Founder Darryn Keiller. "We are open to working with everyone in our industry's diverse ecosystem. Launching WayBeyond has made this pledge a reality".

Segmenting Autogrow into two, separate entities means that a core group of employees will continue servicing Autogrow and the larger team that was hired to form FarmRoad and Folium will now work under the WayBeyond network.

The goal of WayBeyond is to change the agricultural sector for the better and produce food smartly and sustainably.

"It is a challenge, but it is an extremely worthwhile one".

WayBeyond will align their mission with the United National Sustainability Development Goals ensuring their products take into account impacts on the natural environment and communities.
